In 2010, Mural Routes
commissioned Toronto artist Allan Bender to restore Scarborough Rifle
Company, one of its Heritage Trail murals on Kingston Road, Toronto.
After
consultation with original artist John Hood who created it in 1990,
Bender restored and enlivened the sun faded and weather ravaged mural. The
restoration was applauded by both the Scarborough community and
the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 13, home to the mural at 1577 Kingston
Road, in Scarborough Ontario. Before
and after images below show the mural's transformation back to its original
vivid colour and tone.
