Flight![]() Thea Chow, Rob Matejka, Fathima Mohiudden, Katy Mulla, and Minal Patel, Summer 2003 395A Danforth Road, Scarborough, ON. On the side of Milty's Carwash The mural explores themes of migration, transition, and change - inspired by the migration of the Monarch Butterfly, a fragile and fascinating species that is symbolic of the constant state of change and flux experienced by residents of the Kingston Road motel strip, inhabited by a transient population of refugees and immigrants living in motels in the area. The migration path of the Monarch Butterfly itself lies along Kingston Road, making the connection even more appropriate. This unique mural was created to from marine grade plywood and fits together like a puzzle. Financial support for this project was provided by the City of Toronto, Economic Development Banner and Mural Program, the Graffiti Transformation Project and The Government of Ontario Summer Experience Program. |
