1940 Hardware Store Fire Lacombe, Alberta - Painted in 2006 by local muralist, Tim Giles (Location:  51st Street & 50th Avenue behind the Royal Bank) The Leading Store.  A wood frame building of generous proportions was built in 1896.  A total renovation and expansion occurred in 1902 and the old wood was completely covered with brick.  the fire of 1940 partially destroyed this building, however many features still remain, including the original mezzanine, lighting fixtures and the pressed tin ceiling on the east side.
