Souvenir Views of Windsor
Vintage postcard folders from the early 1900s were the inspiration for this Postcards from Home mural. Situated on the south side of the King George Apartment Building near the corner of Ouellette Avenue and Giles Boulevard, it serves as a welcoming beacon to visitors approaching Windsor’s city centre. It recalls sights once prominent along Ouellette Avenue such as the Essex County War Memorial, rose gardens, streetcars, and the ferry dock.
References for this mural came from private collectors of vintage postcards, the Municipal Archives, The Times, Windsor’s Community Museum and The Windsor Star.
