Upper Mills![]() Completed: September 2009 Size: 897 sq feet Location: 785 King West This mural brings to life the area formerly known as “Upper Mills” and pays homage to some of the early businesses situated on or around the site of the present day Tourist Information Bureau. As you go down the stairs behind the Bureau leading to the Magog River Gorge, you are transported to 1867 and see local characters who must be discussing the confederation. The foundation of the Information Bureau is presented as if the upper floor had been built on an old farm building reconfigured and transformed over the years into different factories. These factories were powered by hydroelectricity from the first dam in the area, known at the time as “Upper Mills Dam”, built in 1827. This 10th mural of Sherbrooke's outdoor art gallery portrays both imaginary characters and historical individuals who have left their mark on our city’s history. |
