Location: 275 Marquette This mural depicts the former central fire station on Marquette Street (where the Éva-Senécal library stands today). The mural is a tribute to Sherbrooke’s fire and police services. On this beautiful summer day in 1967, the central station opens its doors during the annual Firefighter for a Day event. It is the year of international exhibitions, the World Fair of Expo 67 in Montreal , the same year the Beatles release the album Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. It is also the year of retirement of Percy Donahue, director of firefighting services, after 55 years of loyal service to the City of Sherbrooke. |
