This mural depicts the history and personalities of the Stony Plain Women’s Institute from its inception in 1913 to the present. Their crest prominently displays their motto, “For Home and Country,” and long-time members as well as aspects of their community involvement are integrated in the design. From the organization’s foundation by Adelaide Hoodless in Ontario in 1897 to today, the Women’s Institutes have performed community service in a variety of ways. Members of the Stony Plain Women’s Institute are a proud example of the dedication and involvement the Institute stands for.
